“Florida Theological Global Ministries, Where we Transform Leaders Into Agents of Change”
Chaplains are members of the clergy from various religious faiths who have decided to serve a group of people outside of their respective houses of worship. They are typically employed by an institution or agency and provide care to the institution's clients, employees, and their families.
From a Christian perspective, chaplains serve in a pastoral, prophetic, and priestly role, while also being non-religious to those who do not profess any religion.
Christian chaplains approach ministry situations without any personal agenda, adopting the attitude of a servant.
They are an extension of Jesus Christ's ministry to all people, and it is a common misconception that chaplains have abandoned "real ministry" to pursue social ministry.
Although Jesus did attend the synagogue regularly and taught there (Luke 4:16-21, 44), most of his ministry took place outside the walls of the instructional “church/synagogue”. He often taught on the seashore, on mountaintops, over dinner tables, and along the roads as he walked.
Therefore, it is inaccurate to suggest that Jesus mainly taught in the synagogue.
Chaplains are faced with the challenge of providing compassionate care to everyone they encounter, regardless of their social, economic, or celebrity status, or whether they desire help or not.
At other times, the challenge is demonstrating the love of God to those who may not appear to deserve care, such as perpetrators of heinous crimes or those who threaten the Christian faith. In essence, chaplains cater to the needs of all people.
